'Politics of Love' VOD release

The Videocon D2H IIFA Weekend 2011 commenced from 25th June in the heart of Toronto with a host of events and festivities. And our B-town celebrities added immense glitter and shine to the three-day celebration.

Sizzling Mallika Sherawat took away the limelight twice there - one, for the Infiniti IIFA World Premiere of her comic multi-starrer Double Dhamaal and second to promote her Hollywood venture 'Politics of Love'.

On Day 3 of IIFA, Warner Bros. Digital Distribution and Code black Entertainment announced plans to release their romantically charged comedy 'Politics of Love' via Video on Demand (VOD) beginning September 1, 2011.  This platform provides film properties with a unique means to capture massive viewing audiences in more than 100 million homes. The film will be in the VOD space for a two week window before heading to DVD on September 20, 2011.

As the U.S. election campaigns get underway, 'Politics Of Love' is a whimsical reminder of the historic 2008 season in which Barack Obama and John McCain faced off in a heated battle for the hearts and minds of America.

In the movie Mallika shines as Aretha Gupta, an Indian-American woman returning home to work in her parents restaurant after a career disappointment, only to find herself caught up in the fervor of a local Obama campaign. A staunch Democrat, she finds herself falling for handsome campaign manager Kyle Franklin (Brian White, Stomp the Yard, TNT's Men of a Certain Age) with just as much passion for the election as she does. The catch? He is the leader of the local Republican Party.  As she reconciles her beliefs with her heart, the social and cultural debate rages around her and her family.

'Politics of Love' also features the luminous Ruby Dee (American Gangster), and Loretta Devine (Jumping the Broom) as Aretha's loving and outspoken step-mother and grandmother.

Big B impressed by Abhijit

The return of the original angry young man of Bollywood, megastar Amitabh Bachchan, in 'Bbuddah.... Hoga Terra Baap' has been making waves. The title track "Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap" has been rising up the charts and specially the dub-step version.

The man associated with the mentioned track, Abhijit Vaghani, talked us through what dub step actually is and how Big B reacted to it when he heard it for the first time. "Actually it is not such a well known genre in India (like hip hop, reggae and blues) but is widely known in UK and US. In a nutshell dub step is a very growly, rough kind of genre," explains Abhijit.

So, did Big B approve of this new genre and Abhijit says, "I was quite nervous before making him hear it as I was quite skeptical of his reaction to the new sound of dub-step as it is a new genre all together. When he first heard the rough cut, he got really excited about and actually came and hugged me and told me how he totally loved it. It was amazing to get such appreciation. We then went ahead and recorded the track in dub-step. He is very happy with the results and I have heard that this version is become his favourite," concludes the immensely talented musician.

I’m very sensitive about the other person involved.” But what caught our attention was, “And in the eventuality of life, if you break-up and get back together, I don’t want to explain myself to the media constantly. I’m a sensitive person and I choose to protect myself by not talking about my relationships.” Noble thinking, but is Kat hinting at something, a reunion of sorts with ex-beau Salman Khan perhaps? Insiders say that there is a strong possibility of this happening. And we don’t doubt it, given the recent stories we hear. The couple broke up as lovers but continued to stay friends. And then, after a long time, they also signed a film together – Yash Raj’s Ek Tha Tiger. That’s not all. It was reported that recently Katrina dropped by on the sets where Salman was shooting. Meanwhile Kat’s other significant, reported-ex-beau Ranbir Kapoor has been painting the city red with Kingfisher calendar model Angela Johnson. Apparently last week the two had gone together to watch Hollywood film X-Men at a theatre in the neighbourhood. The young model also attended Ranbir’s house party for friends from the fraternity. In fact, Angela recently went on record saying that she has dated B-town’s heartthrob Ranbir. Now wouldn’t all this make you think that Ran-Kat is old hat and Sal-Kat is finding new life?

Bipasha now becomes Madhavan's

Not literally what we mean... Just that one can look forward to this lovely pair which is soon going to grace the screens; where Bengal Babe joins South heartthrob...
News is abuzz in the circles about Bipasha Basu and R. Madhavan being roped in for a romantic comedy. The yet-to-be-titled film will be helmed by the award-winning director Ashiwni Chaudhary, whose trailer of forthcoming actioner 'Ghayal Returns' is currently making rounds in media.

While enough has been said and done about Bips and John's break-up, the actress is now is very active in her professional front. On the other hand, Maddy who is still reigning on success with his last outing 'Tanu Weds Manu', said to have been quite excited about this new venture and also on sharing the screen space with Bipasha.

Although they have never worked together, sources revealed that the two actors share good rapport. "She is an old friend and I am really looking forward to shoot with her. As far as the script is concerned, it is taking shape for a year now and I just love it," remarked Madhavan.

According to sources, the rom-com is expected to start its shooting in July. Ashwini will complete the shoot of this film after which he will start the work on 'Ghayal Returns'.
